In addition to the Program of Events that will be featured at the DC Solar Flare, we will also be playing a series of energy and sustainability films.  See below for film descriptions and showtimes.  All films will be shown in the Chorus Room at H.D. Woodson High School (see signs on the day of the event, or ask a volunteer, for help locating the Chorus Room).

 

The Last Mountain - 10:10am - 11:45am

Description: A coal mining corporation and a tiny community vie for the last great mountain in Appalachia in a battle for the future of energy that affects us all.


How to Start Solar Coop - 11:50am - 11:55pm 

Description: The Mt. Pleasant Solar Cooperative in Washington, DC helps shine a light on how to bring affordable and convenient solar power to your community.


Fourth Revolution - 12:00pm - 1:25pm

Description: This film shows the vision of a global society, which lives in a world where the energy is produced 100% with renewable energies, showing a complete reconstruction of the economy, to reach this goal.


Forks over Knives - 1:30pm - 3:05pm

Description: Examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods.

The Missing Link to Renewable Energy - 3:05pm - 3:20pm

Description: Donald Sadoway explores the key to using alternative energy: storage. In this accessible, inspiring talk, Donald Sadoway takes to the blackboard to show us the future of large-scale batteries that store renewable energy. As he says: "We need to think about the problem differently. We need to think big. We need to think cheap."


Powering the Future - 3:20pm - 4:20pm

Description: This Discovery Channel episode discusses the future of energy production and use, including the role of renewable energies such as solar.  DC SUN is featured.
